Maruyama Kyuemon
Maruyama Kyuemon Shoten is a lacquerware company based in Kawada, a region renowned as the “home of urushi” with over 1,500 years of tradition. The company has mastered every stage of lacquerware production and has long been dedicated to promoting this craft.
For generations, it has been honored as an Imperial Household Purveyor, and in 1979, it became the first in Kawada to be awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette.
Today, the ninth-generation Kyuemon continues to preserve this 1,500-year tradition while creating lacquerware that harmonizes with modern lifestyles.
